EU-FarmBook at Agricultural Research Day NRW 2026

The EU-FarmBook project presented its work to around 300 scientists, agricultural advisers and practitioners at the Agricultural Research Day North Rhine-Westphalia 2026 in Bonn. The event, themed ‘The importance of agricultural research for food security and sustainable agriculture’, was hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Consumer Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia and held at the lecture hall centre of the University of Bonn.
Poster Exhibition
As part of the accompanying poster exhibition highlighting the diversity of agricultural research and early-career science in the German federal state, the EU-FarmBook team from Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (BRSU) presented a poster that had been created in collaboration with the teams from Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) and Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences (HSRW). In the section entitled ‘Networking, Education and Crisis Management’, they informed visitors about the benefits of the free-to-use online platform.

‘By contributing to EU-FarmBook, you make your project results visible across Europe and significantly increase their impact’, said Prof Katharina Seuser (BRSU). She added that dedicated project pages on EU-FarmBook can serve as an alternative to maintaining a separate website. ‘That means less effort and greater visibility for partner organisations, practice notes, manuals, videos, event announcements and other news’, Seuser told visitors from research, advisory services and farming practice.
EU-FarmBook works within AKIS
North Rhine-Westphalia’s Minister of Agriculture, Silke Gorißen, noted that research results can only deliver benefits once they reach those who need them. This was also a core aim of the EU-level Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS) – within which EU-FarmBook operates.
Prof Dr Annette Scheersoi, Vice-Rector of the University of Bonn, highlighted that the state’s agricultural research network has supported knowledge exchange between science and agricultural practice for 20 years. She said the university’s current priorities—climate change adaptation, renewable raw materials, sustainable agriculture and digitalisation—offer opportunities for the agriculture of the future.
Agroecological research panel
Four working groups discussed future prospects in agricultural research. In the session on agroecological research, participants identified criteria for successful projects, challenges and potential solutions. EU-FarmBook was cited as one option for making research findings permanently available for practical application.
