German Network Puts EU-FarmBook to the Test in Interactive Online Workshop

The German CAP Network (DVS) and the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) jointly hosted an online workshop on EU-FarmBook, giving participants hands-on experience with the platform. More than 50 people from across Germany took, part giving the knowledge-exchange tool a first trial.

Who took part?

Two thirds of the attendees came from German Operational Groups and the remaining third were representatives from Horizon Europe projects and innovation support brokers – a mix that set the stage for a lively exchange between those generating practical results and those helping to spread them further.

Why EU-FarmBook matters

Dr. Leonie Göbel (DVS) opened the session with a brief introduction before EU-FarmBook Ambassador Dr. Susanne von Münchhausen (HNEE) explained the challenge the platform was built to address making the practical outcomes of EU-funded research genuinely accessible to farmers, foresters and advisors, rather than leaving them buried in dense project reports.

Corinna Fück (HNEE), who also serves as a direct contact point for EU-FarmBook users, then gave participants a live walkthrough of the platform´s interface. Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development is a core project partner of EU-FarmBook, responsible for the platform´s development and for supporting its community of users.

From demo to hands-on

Rather than just watching a demo, participants were invited to explore EU-FarmBook themselves – testing its search functions, trying out the farm assistant, editing their own project pages, adding team members and uploading contributions. Advisors moved into a breakout room to dive deeper into the search tools and share detailed feedback, while the rest of the group populated their own project page with images and content.

The session was energetic and practical, with plenty of exchange despite a few minor technical hiccups along the way.

Participants particularly welcomed three features that stood out

• the AI‑driven metadata extraction – speeds up the tagging of resources.
• its clear and intuitive interface – enables a quick start for non‑technical users
• the project page feature, valuing EU-FarmBook as a curated hub for practice-oriented knowledge – not just another repository of project reports.

Having Susanne von Münchhausen and Corinna Fück as dedicated contact persons in Germany for follow-up questions was also seen as a real asset.

To close, Susanne von Münchhausen shared concrete tips on turning lengthy project reports and abstracts into concise, audience-ready material. One participant summed up the overall impression in a post‑event email:

“Thank you so much for yesterday’s event! It was very informative, and it was great for me to get to know EU-FarmBook better,”

The comment reflected the sentiment of the whole group: the workshop marked a strong first step toward making research results more visible, usable and lasting for the people who put them into practice.
